LE MERIDIEN + UNICEF
CHECK OUT FOR CHILDREN
For more than 15 years Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts supports CHECK OUT FOR CHILDREN, a unique partnership between UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund and Starwood Hotels & Resorts. Since its beginning in 1995, Starwood guests have raised over $23 million that has gone to support UNICEF programs such as child survival and development, basic education and gender equality, HIV/AIDS and children, and policy advocacy and partnerships.
The Check Out for Children programme is simple and effective. Guests are asked to allow an extra US$1 donation (or local currency equivalent) to be added to their room bill. Those who wish to donate more or prefer not to donate can advise the staff at check out and the front desk will happily accommodate their wishes.
ART IS LIFETM
Experience Le Méridien in Europe, Africa and Middle East + support ART IS LIFETM. In 2007, approximately 5.4 million people between the ages of 15 and 24 were living with HIV. Young people account for 45% of new infections worldwide. HIV is preventable, yet only 1 in 3 knows how to stay free from HIV.
Le Méridien is asking guests to make a donation to Art Is Life, a programme which supports HIV prevention in Africa, where young people are raising awareness, breaking down stigma and communicating vital information about HIV to their peers through child to child radio, TV, theatre and other cultural activities.
CONTRIBUTE TO A BETTER FUTURE - TRANSFORM CHILDREN'S LIVES
Le Méridien Limassol Spa & Resort is pleased to be a part of this meaningful program, and appreciates the support of so many guests who have played a role in helping kids around the world. Last year Le Méridien Europe, Africa and Middle East raised $445,000 and so far this year have raised $257,237 making the total so far for the Art is Life project, $702,237!
